What worship songs have spoken to you over the last year? Are there any particular lyrics that you have found yourself repeating? Over the next few days, I’ll share 5 songs (in no particular order) that I have found to be particularly powerful. We’d love to hear yours too!
2020 has been a chaotic year. Covid-19. Brexit. Both have resulted in a new way of life for our nation that will have an impact for many years to come. This song has spoken to me about how God is in the midst of life – even in the situations that we are facing now, even when we can’t see Him obviously at work.
The first verse starts with the acknowledgement that although we come from different nations and with different experiences “our blood is one” – we are children of God, and are loved by Him.
It’s easy to see this as platitudes when we’ve been faced with illness and bereavement as many have in the past year, but this song encourages us to focus on “the one truth that God is madly in love with you”. Because of this, we can “Take courage, hold on, be strong”.
God is a good God, and our redemption and salvation are found in Jesus.
